Our client is a new financial planning joint venture set up a global asset manager and an established UK banking group.

The bringing together of 2 major Financial Services firms was going to be a challenge under any circumstances but also a fantastic opportunity. The search for a Chief Investment officer in this context was a fascinating one.

The position has ultimate responsibility for our client's investment results. Responsibilities included internal and delegated investment activities, setting investment policies and strategies, overseeing third party portfolio management, research services, trading and investment risk.

The scope of responsibilities includes equities, fixed income and alternative investments. The position also plays a key role in connecting the investment services of our client to its distribution channels. This includes the development of a suitable range of investment services to meet the needs of clients.

Most importantly, though, the role required an individual with strong change and people leadership skills. Building a new Investment capability in the context of the JV’s ownership required a smart, thoughtful relationship manager. It required a strategic thinker with a hands-on focus.
